JESUS CARRIES THE CROSS |
LORD, GRANT ME THE GRACE OF PATIENCE IN TIMES OF TRIBULATION |
Our Father... And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the cloak, dressed him in his own clothes, and led him off to crucify him. (Matthew 27:31) Hail Mary... As they were going out, they met a Cyrenian named Simon; this man they pressed into service to carry his cross. (Matthew 27:32) Hail Mary... A large crowd of people followed Jesus, including many women who mourned and lamented him. (Luke 23:27) Hail Mary... Jesus turned to them and said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children, for indeed, the days are coming when people will say, 'Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed.' (Luke 23:28,29) Hail Mary... At that time people will say to the mountains, 'Fall upon us!' and to the hills, 'Cover us!' for if these things are done when the wood is green what will happen when it is dry?" (Luke 23:30,31) Hail Mary... They brought him to the place of Golgotha (which is translated Place of the Skull). (Mark 15:22) Hail Mary... Now two others, both criminals, were led away with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him and the criminals there, one on his right, the other on his left. (Luke 23:32,33) Hail Mary... They gave him wine drugged with myrrh, but he did not take it. (Mark 15:23) Hail Mary... Then they crucified him and divided his garments by casting lots for them to see what each should take. It was nine o'clock in the morning when they crucified him. (Mark 15:24,25) Hail Mary... And they placed over his head the written charge against him: This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.
