| LORD, GRANT ME GRATITUDE FOR THE GIFT OF FAITH |
| Our Father... John (the) Baptist appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. (Mark 1:4) Hail Mary... And this is what he proclaimed: "One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals." (Mark 1:7) Hail Mary... "I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the holy Spirit." (Mark 1:8) Hail Mary... The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world." (John 1:29) Hail Mary... It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. (Mark 1:9) Hail Mary... "I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing with water was that he might be made known to Israel." (John 1:31) Hail Mary... John testified further, saying, "I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon him. (John 1:32) Hail Mary... I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the holy Spirit.' (John 1:33) Hail Mary... And a voice came from the heavens, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased." (Mark 1:11) Hail Mary... At once the Spirit drove him out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.
